Negeri Sembilan

Negeri Sembilan measuring 6,645 square kilometers is located in the west of Peninsula Malaysia some 50km south of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital. Negeri Sembilan literally means nine states but over here there are nine districts governed by a local chieftain.

Visitors will be drawn to the pervasive influence of Minangkabau heritage. The Minangkabau’s migrated from the Sumatra and their heritage is evident through the upswept roofs resembling buffalo horns and Adat Perpatih, the only matrilineal customs that are still widely practiced here. Adat Perpatih’s role is clearly witnessed in wedding ceremonies, dance forms etc. The roof stle has also been incorporated into State buildings e.g. State Mosque and State Secretariat Building.

Temperatures vary from 23 to 33 degrees Celsius and the wettest months are from September to November.
